1. About Us & Acceptance of Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of www.theschooloflife.org.za and all services offered by The School of Life SA, including neurodiversity coaching, life skills programmes, professional development workshops for educators, and coach training.

By accessing our website, registering for a workshop, booking a coaching session, or enrolling in any programme, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), and POPIA.

2. Services Offered

2.1 Neurodiversity Life Skills Coaching — One-on-one or group coaching sessions designed to support individuals with neurodiverse profiles in developing practical life and coping skills.

2.2 Professional Development for Educators — SACE-aligned workshops and short courses under the “In the Classroom” series, equipping teachers with knowledge and strategies for supporting neurodiverse learners. SACE CPD certificates are issued upon completion. SACE Provider No: PR000001132.

2.3 Coach Training — Training programmes (Life Skills Coach Certification and Neurodiversity Life Skills Coaching Certification) for individuals seeking to become qualified coaches. 80 hours theory + 20 hours practical. Join anytime.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Bookings & Registration

  • All bookings are subject to availability and confirmed only upon receipt of full payment (or agreed deposit)
  • A confirmation email will be sent upon successful booking. Please check your spam folder if it does not arrive within 24 hours
  • It is your responsibility to ensure all registration details provided are accurate
  • Workshop enrolment closes 48 hours before the scheduled start date, unless otherwise stated
  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule sessions due to insufficient enrolments, facilitator illness, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, a full refund or transfer to an alternative date will be offered

4. Fees, Payment & Invoicing

All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT (where applicable) unless expressly stated otherwise. Prices are subject to change; however, changes will not affect confirmed bookings.

We accept payment via EFT, credit/debit card through our secure payment gateway, and other methods as indicated on our website.

Coaching Certification Payment Options:

  • Full Payment (Best Value): R36,000 once off
  • 3 Months: R5,000 deposit + R11,000/month = R38,000
  • 6 Months: R5,000 deposit + R5,833/month = R40,000
  • 10 Months: R5,000 deposit + R3,700/month = R42,000
  • 12 Months: R5,000 deposit + R3,200/month (x11) + R2,800 = R43,000

Full payment is required to confirm workshop bookings unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed in writing. Invoices will be issued electronically to the email address provided at registration.

5. Cancellation & Refund Policy

5.1 Cancellations by You:

  • 14 or more days before the event: full refund, less an administrative fee of R150
  • 7 to 13 days before the event: 50% refund
  • Less than 7 days before the event: no refund; however, you may transfer your booking to another person or a future date (subject to availability)

5.2 Transfers: You may transfer your booking to another individual or future session at no additional charge, provided written notice is received at least 48 hours before the event. One transfer permitted per booking.

5.3 Non-Attendance: No refund or transfer will be provided for non-attendance without prior written notice.

5.4 Cancellations by Us: If we cancel a session, you will receive a full refund of all amounts paid, or the option to transfer to a future session. We are not liable for any further costs incurred (e.g., travel).

6. Conduct & Participation

All participants are expected to:

  • Engage respectfully with facilitators and fellow participants
  • Arrive on time for in-person or virtual sessions
  • Notify us in advance if unable to attend a scheduled session
  • Refrain from recording sessions without the explicit written consent of the facilitator

We reserve the right to remove any participant from a session or programme, without refund, if their conduct is disruptive, discriminatory, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate.

7. Coaching Disclaimer

Life skills coaching and neurodiversity coaching are not regulated healthcare or psychological services. Nothing shared by our coaches or in our materials constitutes medical, clinical, psychological, psychiatric, or legal advice. Our services are complementary in nature and are not a substitute for professional medical, therapeutic, or psychiatric treatment. If you require clinical support, we encourage you to consult a qualified healthcare professional.

8. Intellectual Property

All content created by The School of Life SA — including workshop materials, handouts, slide decks, videos, guides, templates, website content, and course resources — is protected by copyright and remains the sole property of The School of Life SA.

  • You may use materials provided for your personal or professional development only
  • You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or republish any materials without prior written consent
  • You may not represent our materials as your own work
  • You may not use our name, logo, or branding without written authorisation

9. SACE CPD Certificates

SACE-aligned professional development certificates are issued to educators who attend the full duration of a qualifying workshop. Certificates will be issued electronically within 5 to 10 business days of the workshop date. Partial attendance does not qualify for a CPD certificate. SACE Provider No: PR000001132.

10. Online & Virtual Sessions

  • A stable internet connection is your responsibility
  • You are responsible for ensuring your device meets technical requirements communicated prior to the session
  • We are not liable for disruptions caused by third-party platform outages or connectivity issues beyond our control
  • Online sessions may be delivered via Zoom, Google Meet, or similar — links will be provided upon booking confirmation

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of our services. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Privacy & Personal Information

The collection and use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at www.theschooloflife.org.za/privacy-policy. By using our services, you consent to the processing of your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Website Use

You agree to use our website lawfully and not to attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape or republish content without permission, or use our website in any way that could damage our reputation or infringe the rights of others.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. Consumers have the right to refer disputes to the National Consumer Commission or the relevant consumer tribunal in terms of the Consumer Protection Act.
