Recovery Coaching

As a Recovery Coach, my aim is to guide clients with substance abuse problems and related mental health issues through the recovery process. In this role, I assist clients in determining their personal goals, recommending community programs, and providing advice to family members on how they can best offer support. Additionally, I support clients in performing daily self-care tasks and managing life activities such as co-dependency issues and self-esteem problems. I have personal experience in overcoming and recovering from substance abuse, which allows me to connect more deeply with people who are still struggling.

Similar to Life Skills Coaching, Recovery coaching uses a partnership model where the client is considered the expert on their own life. They decide what goals are worth pursuing, while I provide expertise in supporting successful change. Recovery coaching focuses on achieving goals that are important to the client, not just those related to recovery. The coach asks questions and offers reflections to help the client gain clarity and decide on actionable steps. Recovery coaching emphasizes honoring values, making decisions based on principles, creating a clear action plan, and utilizing current strengths to achieve future goals. The Recovery Coach also provides accountability to help the client stay on track.

The Recovery Coach supports any positive change, whether it involves helping individuals returning from treatment to avoid relapse, building community support for recovery, or working on life goals unrelated to addiction such as relationships, work, or education.

Recovery coaching is action-oriented, emphasizing improvement in the present and achievement of future goals.
